In just over two weeks, my husband and I are heading home. Not to my hometown but to my home state, Minnesota. Our nomadic journey is coming to a close, but I think the sense of adventure we found along the way is here to stay.
Right now, Chris and I are staying in West Kelowna, B.C. We’re hiking Mount Boucherie three times a week and finding bookstores to love away from home. We’ve also been going to a nearby Irish sports bar to watch the Timberwolves play in the NBA playoff tournament. It’s called Kelly O'Bryan's Restaurant and Carlos O'Bryan's Pub. The staff is kind, and the food is good. Chris gets to drink Kilkenny Irish Ale, a beer he’s loved since he had his first pint of it at Dubh Linn Gate Irish Pub in Whistler, B.C. At O’Bryan’s, I’ve found a new cider to love — Truck 59 Ciderhouse Baptism by Firetruck Cider. It’s made right here in West Kelowna. We’ll be going there for a tasting next week.
I just finished reading (or should I say devouring?) The Paris Novel by Ruth Reichl.
My most-read post on the Chris + Melissa blog this past week was Rome: 8 Restaurants to Dine at on Your Roman Holiday.
I have a list of places to explore over the next week in the gorgeous Okanagan region. It’s the northernmost part of the Sonoran Desert. It’s Canadian wine country and lake country, and like most of Beautiful British Columbia, it’s full of natural beauty.
Until next time, friends…
Pack with care and travel well,
Melissa
